Find out which British Airways offices are open right now around the world!

I was digging around the bowels of FlyerTalk the other day, looking for some help with the schedule change policy at British Airways, when I found this little tool.

It’s known that the North American British Airways call center has fairly long wait times and can be… less than helpful. So typically I’ll call the North American call center first, and if the wait seems too long or the agent isn’t being very helpful. I’ll go and call another region. But it’s a tedious process to guess which offices might be open in each time zone. Continue reading →

A lightning trip through Europe and lessons learned

My friend Alex and I recently went on a week long trip through Europe, taking advantage of a British Airways sale for business class to Europe. We hit Zurich, Berlin, and London, staying 2-3 days in each city. Here’s a mini trip report, as well as some travel tips gained from first hand experience. Tips will be at the bottom of the post for those who don’t want to read the trip report.

Admittedly, I am one of the worst prepared frequent travelers out there. Due to taking so many frequent trips, and being a bit scatterbrained, I tend to barely plan, always forget to bring something, lose things in hotels, miss experiencing things, and make small mistakes that could have happened with better planning. But things somehow turn out okay in the end. But hopefully you can learn from my mistakes! Continue reading →

AwardFinder – a better flight awards search engine

Apparently some of my travel hacker friends were not aware of this tool, so here’s a little introduction post for this very useful app. I’ve been using it for the last couple months and it has helped me find and book multiple awards. It’s mostly useful for Star Alliance, Oneworld, Etihad and partners, as well as certain specific partners for supported search engines.

AwardFinder is a App for the Chrome browser that brings the power of many airline award search engines to one convenient place. It also adds additional features on top of the official airline search engines, such as the ability to search multiple cabins, multiple origins / destinations, save your searches, and more! American Airlines business class award space to Europe wide open – even into summer 2016!

Via View from the Wing, business class award space to Europe on American metal is wide open right now. Act fast, as American is notoriously stingy about opening up premium cabin award space to Europe. The space that is wide open is any American metal to LHR. Those routes are the big American and US Airways hubs LAX, MIA, DFW, ORD, CLT, PHL to LHR.

Normally, the only space accessible by American AAdvantage miles are the British Airways longhaul flights, and those come with hefty fuel surcharges. Continue reading →

Cheap British Airways business class flights to Europe are back!

UPDATE: Via Dan’s Deals, you can use Cash + Avios and get a very good value out of your Avios (around ~2 cents per Avios)

British Airways has been having on and off business class sales to Europe for the last year or so. According to FlyerTalk, the sale is back again. I’m finding fares to Europe from San Francisco to be around $2000. This offer is not limited to San Francisco though, and should be available from many airports across the country. It’s not too often that the West Coast gets business class deals this good to Europe though. Continue reading →
