WOW Air coming to Los Angeles and San Francisco in Summer 2016

Via Deals We Like, WOW Air is expanding their service to Los Angeles and San Francisco in Summer 2016. Currently WOW only services Boston and Baltimore in the United States, so this is a nice addition for those living in California or elsewhere on the West Coast to get cheap flights to Iceland or onward connecting flights to Europe.

Iceland, especially with WOW Air and Icelandair, has positioned itself as a convenient hub for passengers from North America to get to Europe with short connections and cheap tickets. Continue reading →

Use Ibotta for $10 off $100 on Orbitz (hotels, vacations only), $15 off $150 on Hotwire (hotels only) – ends 10/20

I’m not a heavy user of Ibotta (iOS, Android, would greatly appreciate if you use my referral code kfvxuq, which also gives you an extra $1), but I read a comment on Vinh’s blog informing him about a $5 rebate on $100 at Best Buy:

Source: milesperday.com

The post itself was a reminder to use Shopkick (my referral link) at Best Buy, which is another app I open frequently when I’m doing my MSing runs at Safeway, Target, and Simon Mall (all of these stores give points just for walking in; I don’t bother scanning UPCs) and when buying anything from Best Buy. But when I saw Amber’s comment, I quickly dusted off my Ibotta app and found the rebate for Best Buy. I had just bought JBL speakers at Best Buy exactly 6 days before (thanks Vinh and Forrest for your guidance), and Ibotta receipts must be scanned in within 1 week of purchase. My account already had $7.50 in rebates from 8-10 months ago, but you can’t cash out until you have at least $10, so my rebates have just been sitting in limbo and I didn’t really care because I couldn’t be bothered to monitor the app for new rebates that fit my purchases frequently. Anyways, I’ll definitely take an extra $5 off my JBL purchases as well as the ability to finally cash out after nearly a year, so I submitted my receipts for Best Buy and within 10 minutes, the receipts were OCR’ed and approved, and my account had $12.50. I cashed out to Venmo and received the funds instantly. Woohoo! Continue reading →

$300 bonus for Amex Blue Cash Everyday!!

Via my mother (I have trained her well 😛 ), Costco Amex holders may be eligible for a $300 sign up bonus on the Amex Blue Cash Everyday (see Doctor of Credit’s review of it and a publicly accessible $250 offer here) card. As far as I know, there’s no offer code, but you do have to call in and go through the phone bill-pay flow (you will get redirected to an agent because they are trying to convert customers; note also that they may give you a lesser offer but as with all things, just HUCA). I tried numerous times to see if there were product change offers available over online chat and the reps came up with nothing, but if anyone has success, let us know in the comments. Quick news and deals from around the web

From Just Another Points Traveler, you can save $10 off $50 on your first order at Amazon Warehouse Deals WD1STTIME. I’ve bought plenty of electronics and other more expensive products from Amazon Warehouse Deals and always had a good experience.

From Travel Codex, Avianca is status matching from various frequent flyer programs to its own program from October 1, 2015 to November 30, 2015. This is an easy way to get Star Alliance Gold until March 2017 if you have equivalent status or higher on another airline. It’s not certain what airlines they are matching from or if they are matching from other Star Alliance Airlines, but it’s worth a try! Star Alliance Gold gets you lounge access when flying Star Alliance airlines, priority check-in, sometimes priority security, and priority boarding. Star Alliance Gold from a program outside the United States also gives you domestic lounge access even when flying economy, which you don’t get as a United MileagePlus Gold member. Free $15 for Chase Sapphire or Chase Sapphire Preferred members when using Visa Checkout

Via Points, Miles, and Martinis, Visa Checkout is offering $15 statement credit if you pay with Visa Checkout on various online merchants using your Chase Sapphire or Chase Sapphire Preferred card. Offer is valid once per card, not per merchant unlike the Amex Checkout offer.

There doesn’t seem to be a minimum limit on the purchase amount, but we don’t know yet if you will receive a credit for amounts < $15. But if you buy something really cheap, then the risk might be worth it. Continue reading →

$2 off $250 Visa Gift Cards (slight moneymaker) at GiftCardMall!

Get $2 off $250 Visa Gift Cards (VGCs) at GiftCardMall with code:

EndOfSummer15

At $5.95 per gift card, this comes out to a cost of $5.95-$2 = $3.95 / $250 = 1.6% excluding credit card rewards. So this is a (slight) money-maker if you use a 2% cash back card but is otherwise a reasonable way to meet minimum spending requirements if you have a way of liquidating the VGCs (e.g. Redbird).

I also checked the terms at Simply Best Coupons (referral link — thanks!), which offers 0.5% cash back on VGC purchases from GiftCardMall, and they don’t seem to explicitly forbid using coupon codes. As with all things, YMMV. If the cash back gets credited, though, this is an even better deal at $2.70/$250 = 1.08% before credit card rewards! You can find GiftCardMall by searching for “visa gift cards”. Continue reading →

100K bonus on the  American Express Platinum Charge Card

This bonus comes around only about once a year or longer, or through targeted mail offers. The signup bonus for this card and other perks of this card are in my opinion worth it for at least a year, but perhaps not more than that. The offer is 100K Membership Rewards points for $3,000 spend in the first 3 months. Continue reading →
