Gopuff (my referral) has been working hard on marketing lately. I’ve been getting ads everywhere for them, and every time I walk past a BevMo (Gopuff acquired BevMo for $350MM in Nov 2020) I see a tent sign about Gopuff outside the entrance. I’ve seen Chase offers for them, and there’s currently even a targeted 99% off Boost up to $25 off in Cashapp for it.
Gopuff also recently announced a Gopuff x Chase benefit where you can get $10 credit per month per Chase card you have through 12/31/2023. Nearly every Chase card qualifies (except Amazon, it seems). The Ink cards also get the credit, even though it’s not officially on the list.

Gopuff x Chase
Products and Pricing
Despite its name (apparently the company started out selling hookah), Gopuff primarily sells convenience store type items and alcohol. So things like snacks, basic groceries like eggs and milk, ice cream and frozen goods, and lots of beverages (makes sense since they own BevMo). There are also household goods, baby essentials, OTC medicines, cleaning supplies, and electronics. The pricing is reasonable for some items and a bit overpriced for others. They have a lot of promos, for example I purchased Talenti gelato which was buy 1 get 1 free (2 for $6) which helps bring down the cost. Last call for alcohol is at 9:30 pm (at least in California?) so orders placed after that cannot contain alcohol.

Delivery Fee and FAM membership
The delivery fee is $1.95, and there’s an additional alcohol fee. Both of these are waived with a FAM membership, which is $5.95/month.
Update 1/31/23: I almost always do Pickup orders now so I don’t need the FAM membership. Paying for the membership does not get the credit since it is less than a $10 charge. It used to be that sub-$10 charges also got credited (at $10! small moneymaker), but not anymore.
My Experience and Maximizing
Update: Gift cards no longer earn the credit. The best way to maximize and keep out of pocket costs low is to do multiple pickup orders back to back and pick them all up at once. Just make sure the charge is over $10!
When I received the Cashapp 99% off Boost in my account, I purchased a $20 and $5 gift card from Gopuff and it worked for the Boost.
I placed an order at midnight and an hour later it was cancelled due to lack of drivers. They gave me a $5 “We PUFFED up!” credit as an apology.
I used this $5 credit along with the $25 Gopuff gift cards and made another order at 7:03 PM. I padded the order with enough gratuity to bring the payment on a credit card to $10, and used an eligible Chase credit card to pay the remaining balance.
At 7:15 PM I received a text to prepare my ID (because my order container alcohol) and that my driver was almost there, and a few minutes later the driver knocked on my door. I gave her my ID, she scanned the barcode on the back, and had me sign on her phone.
The delivery came in plastic Gopuff bags which will double as great trash can liners. 😆 The alcohol came in paper BevMo bags.
Rewards
Gopuff has a Puff Points rewards system where every item, even gift cards, earn points. Every product in the store has an assigned points value that you earn. Delivery fees, tips, and taxes don’t earn points.
It looks like you can redeem your points for free snacks or baby wipes in their Rewards store, or you can collect enough points to save up for rewards like “15% off EVERY order for 1 week” (12k points), “20% off EVERY order for 2 weeks” (40k points), “$5 off one order” (18k points), or “$20 off one order” (65k points).
User Experience Gripes
I’m not a huge fan of the shopping experience. While I’m glad there is a search bar, there is no way to filter the results and sort by price, etc. And a lot of things are sold out. But hey, free money is free money.
Referrals
I tried Gopuff earlier this year when they were giving $25 for referrals, which was quite generous. Referrals are now only $10 as of this writing, but you might see ads around for $15. I appreciate if you use my referral, but if you find a higher offer for not using a referral, you should use that to maximize. 🙂
Verdict
While I normally don’t think I would use this service due to some of the inflated prices, I have 10 eligible Chase cards, so getting 10x$10 credits per month will probably be worth using. I was impressed by the speed as well. Gopuff delivery is crazy fast and very convenient. It’s faster than Doordash, Grubhub, Ubereats, Instacart, etc.
[…] Gopuff Review – $10/month free with Chase cards […]
[…] I’ve reviewed Gopuff over a year ago (don’t use my referral since I just got banned); back then there were many problems with Chase not auto-crediting those of us in states where the charge posted as BEVMO rather than GOPUFF. Well, they fixed that a few months in and I was happily humming away with up to 12 orders per month with all my Chase cards for a while up until the last week of March. I was trying to pick up drinks for my birthday party, but the payment kept erroring out. I thought perhaps some drinks were low stock, so I kept changing the order, and I also tried other cards in my account. No luck. […]
