If you’re like me, you freshly loaded up your United Travel Bank with your eligible Amex cards in the new year to use up the associated travel credits. Say you’ve also signed up for FoundersCard to get the discount on United bookings. United says that you can’t use Travel Bank funds to book when using corporate discounts, but is that correct? When I go through the booking flow on the web, that’s the case:

Nope, not there.

However, it seems like you can still use Travel Bank funds to book on the mobile app! I was successfully able to book a ticket with both on my iPhone. For some crazy reason, on my Android the app crashes when I try to use my Travel Bank funds, with or without any corporate discounts. I think it’s because United detects that I’m in Japan, as I see Japanese yen as the currency in the app before it crashes. Hope this tip helps!
