New targeted Marriott offers are now available from Chase! The various offers are:
- 70,000 points + 7,500 points for adding an authorized user, with minimum spending of $3000 in 3 months. The first year annual fee is waived on this offer. This offer is available for Marriott Gold members and higher.
- 40,000 points + $150 statement credit after your first purchase, with minimum spending of $2000 in 3 months. Like the first version, the first year annual fee is waived on this offer. This offer is available after making a dummy booking.
In order to get these offers, you need login your account and go here. If you are a Marriott Gold (or higher) member, then you’ll see Version 1. If not, you’ll see the standard offer of 50,000 points after spending $3000 in 3 months. As Daniel reported, the second offer is available if you go through the booking flow on Marriott’s website.
If you want to see the exact details of each of the targeted offers, you can use the links below, but you will not actually be able to apply unless you were targeted by one of the two mechanisms above:
As a Marriott Gold Member, I saw the 70,000 + 7,500 offer in my account:
Compared to the recent 80,000 points offer with no annual fee waived, this is a much better deal. Assuming you add an authorized user, you get 2,500 fewer points for $85 in waived annual fee, which I would take any day.
Version 2 is a mixed bag, and depends on how much you value Marriott points. Daniel compared this offer versus the then-high offer of 80,000 points, but now that the offer has expired, let’s compare to the 70,000 Marriott offer that comes and goes.
You get 30,000 fewer Marriott points for $150 more in statement credit. So you would have to Marriott points at less than 0.5 cents per point to consider this a good deal, or just like cash better. This doesn’t even consider the free night certificate good at a Category 1-4 hotel, which itself is worth about 20,000 points.
